Handiham Announcements
We are looking for a echolink repeater
in Rochester, MN. that could be linked for the Handiham nets
Echolink stations
should ONLY be connecting to the *HANDIHAM* conference Server
at node 494492. This gives the net controllers the ability to see who is
connected. In the future the *HANDIHAM* conference server could disallow
multi-conferencing. This means that stations that multi-conference could
automatically be disconnected from the server. So PLEASE connect
directly to the HANDIHAM conference server. Not to someone else that is
connected to the HANDIHAM conference server. If you are unable to connect
to *HANDIHAM* try connecting to *VAN-IRLP*. *VAN-IRLP* is used for our
IRLP connection and our backup echolink connection.
The *HANDIHAM* conference server has a 3 minute timer
enabled on it. This means any linked station that transmits continuously
for over 3 minutes will automatically be muted.
For all memberships (except the Life Membership, and the
non-renewable 90 Day sponsored membership), the renewal date is the anniversary
of your last renewal, so your membership extends for one year, or for the term
of the membership. As noted below, 90 day sponsored memberships are
non-renewable...and sponsored members will be expected to join as regular
members at the end of 90 days. As Pat, WA0TDA, notes, "there has not been a
dues increase in a long time".
1) One year: $12...averaging $1 a month.
2) Three years: $36...averaging $3 a month.
3) Life Membership: $120. This is a bargain, considering Life Memberships in
other organizations can be well over $500.
90 Day Non-Renewable Sponsored Memberships are available...however, these have
VERY LIMITED access to what Courage Handi-Hams offers, as follows:
A) The sponsored membership is limited to 90 days and is non-renewable. If
someone is truly desperate and cannot afford $12, they can at least hit the
books and get their Tech license in that time. The days of taking years to get
a Technician license while sitting on free Handiham memberships are over.
B) Sponsored members will have no access to the remote base stations. If they
are joining to get a license or upgrade, they should be studying and not
playing radio. This should help them focus on what is important - the license.
C) Sponsored members will have no access to member services other than study
materials for the reason given above. That includes radio camp and anything
having to do with equipment.
D) In order to continue services, sponsored members will be expected to join as
regular members at the end of 90 days.
Thanks,
Mike (N0VZC)
